Drovers Run 2024
This WRHS provides 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to anyone in need, and very importantly, anyone receiving help, not having to pay.
The WRHS operational area extends from the Hawkesbury River in the south, to the Queensland border in the north, and as far west as Brewarrina and Nyngan or even further if tasked. The WRHS operates from three bases across northern NSW, Newcastle, Tamworth and Lismore, using AW139 helicopters.
In March of 2015 a Doctor and Paramedic were included on the helicopter crew 24 hours per day, and the WRHS now responds to over 1,500 life-saving missions each year.
The AW139 Helicopter cost $1,000 per hour in fuel, $1,000 per hour to run the engine, $1,500 for the airframe and for $500 avionics, that’s a total of $4,000 per hour, not including crew.
The Drover’s Run 4WD Outback Adventure is a major fund-raising activity for the WRHS and is being held from the 5th to 22nd August, 2024. Scott and Warren are participating in the Drover Run, to assist with this fund raising.
We invite individuals, or your business to be a Supporting Donor of the 2024 Drover’s Run Outback Adventure, and in turn, we will not only promote your business to the broader community during the event but you will also be assisting to save lives through your tax-deductible donation.
We are looking forward to the 2024 Drover’s Run raising a substantial amount of money for the WRHS and we look forward to and, thank you for you supporting this event.

Distinguished and Famous people from Mount Waverley
🎬 Adam Elliot
Animator Adam Elliot moved to Mount Waverley with his family after early childhood on a South Australian prawn farm. His filmmaking eventually brought an Academy Award for Harvie Krumpet, but one of his most treasured awards came much earlier. In a University of Melbourne interview, he recalled struggling at Mount Waverley Little Athletics with asthma and a troublesome knee, then receiving the season’s most-improved medal. He kept it among his film trophies and said he felt especially fond of it. It is a pleasingly modest local counterpart to an Oscar: a childhood encouragement that retained its value long after international success arrived.
🗣️ Peter Tatchell
Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell attended Mount Waverley High School before moving to Britain as a young man. His later work included activism with the Gay Liberation Front and research and campaigning on the rights of lesbian and gay people. He also contested the 1983 Bermondsey parliamentary by-election, facing a hostile campaign. The school connection remained part of his story: Mount Waverley Secondary College recorded his video contribution to a reunion in 2024. The reunion brought an internationally known former student back into contact with his school community, even from the other side of the world.
